This movie is the incredibly moving story of a little boy who lives in civil war torn El Salvador during the 1980’s. The movie is based on a true story and it does an amazing job of teaching this important historical event. Voces Inocentes depicts how the war affected the schools, the church and its leaders, individual families, and the child soldiers who were made to serve in the government’s army even at the young age of 12. Students will never forget this movie, and although it is very poignant, it is also inspiring and uplifting. Rated R for war-related violence
